Chapter 52 ? Labor Day Weekend.
When we woke up on Sunday morning, I fixed breakfast for everyone first, with Dakota?s assistance of course, and after we finished eating, Dakota also helped me fix our lunch and pack it in the cooler.* We were going to take it with us when we went to the state park, and while we were doing those things the other two boys cleared the table and loaded the dishwasher.* Michael pitched in and helped them with those tasks, even though I?d told him he didn?t have to, and after they finished doing those things we all took a short break. *
?Should we put on our swimsuits now or will we change there?? Glen asked before we went upstairs.*
?We can do it either way, since there are changing rooms at the state park,? I replied.*
?Do they have lockers that lock??* I wasn?t sure where he was going with this, but I answered.
?They have lockers and I?ve got a combination lock I can put on one of them, if you have anything valuable that you want to protect, but the park will have an attendant on duty as well.?*
?Ok, then do they have hiking trails there too??*

Glen?s logic for doing it this way had initially escaped me, but then I finally realized there was an ulterior motive behind his proposal.* If we all changed at the state park then he and the others would get a chance to check out Michael as well.* What a sneaky little devil he is, although I wondered if the other boys had talked this over with him earlier and it?s why he made the suggestion.*
Regardless of his reasoning, we went upstairs to get what we needed for the outing and the boys emptied their backpacks of their school materials first so they could put our swimming gear in there instead.* Once everyone was ready, Michael helped me carry the cooler out and place it in the back of the SUV, and then we all hopped inside to make the trip to the state park.*
As soon as we arrived there, we got out and the boys slipped on their backpacks for the hike.* I was going to suggest that they leave them in the SUV, but since they had the bottles of water in them it wasn?t an option.* I don?t think anyone wanted to walk around carrying a water bottle in his hand, so the boys agreed to take their backpacks instead.* We went to the main building first and I grabbed a brochure that had a map of the available trails, and then we looked it over and chose the trail we wanted to take.*
It was a lovely day, although it was slightly overcast, but that helped to keep the temperature slightly cooler.* As we started out, Michael and I walked side-by-side so we could chat, and the boys followed behind.* I could actually feel Dakota?s eyes boring a hole in my back and I was certain he was staring at the two of us the entire time.* This was probably done to make sure that Michael and I weren?t getting too friendly.*
The trail was lined with trees nearly the entire way, so there was plenty of shade, and every now and then one of the boys would come up to Michael and me to point out something he saw along the way.* It might have been a squirrel, a butterfly, or a particularly interesting bird, although once in a while it was to draw our attention to one of the other visitors to the park.* Since the wildlife was used to having people wandering around, they weren?t particularly bothered and didn?t immediately take off.* They only did it if someone went directly toward them and got too close, which the boys weren?t prone to do.*
It was actually a longer walk then we?d first anticipated, but everyone indicated that he?d enjoyed doing it.* When we got back to where we started, I led them to the changing room and we all began to undress.* The boys did it very quickly, but then they took their time before they put their swimsuits on and spent the time watching Michael and me instead.* There was no doubt remaining in my mind that the reason they wanted to do it this way was so they could see Michael naked as well, but I also benefited from their strategy.*
I say this because I?ll admit that I checked Michael out as well, but mainly to see if anything had changed since we?d last been together, but he was still in pretty decent shape.* I think the boys were also impressed when they got a glimpse of his package, because he was hung better than me.* Glen confirmed this fact a minute later when he grabbed my arm and held me back as we were getting ready to exit the changing area.* Michael and the others had already gone outside before he did this, and then he whispered to me.*

?Not bad,? Michael said after taking a bite of the sub and tasting both of the salads.* ?Someday you?ll make someone a wonderful spouse.?*
I knew he was merely joking, but Dakota flashed him a look that could have killed.* To distract Michael and keep him from noticing what Dakota was doing, I asked him a question.*
?So would you prefer to go out in a canoe or rowboat after we?re done with this??
?Let?s rent a couple of canoes and paddle around the lake.* Do you remember doing that when we went on the camping trip during spring break of our junior year??
?Of course I do.* It was an awesome time and we got to share a two-man tent for the entire week.?*

After we finished our meal, we cleaned up after ourselves and tossed the used plates and plastic utensils in the trash, and then we put everything else back in the cooler.* Once that was taken care of, Michael and I carried it back to the SUV and locked it in the back, and then we led the boys over to the boat rental area.*
I?m not sure where Michael had kept it while we were swimming, although it?s possible he?d left it in the SUV and merely grabbed it when we put the cooler in the back.* Either way, he pulled out his American Express Platinum card and paid for the rentals.* As soon as we had everything we needed, we carried it down to the water?s edge and I took a few minutes to teach the boys how to use the paddles.*
After they appeared to get the hang of doing it while standing on land, we put the canoes in the water and Michael and I steadied them as the boys took their places.* I put Dakota in front and Jamie in the middle, because I needed to be in the back so I could use my paddle as a rudder.* Michael put Glen in front of their canoe as well, and once we were ready we took our first tentative strokes in the lake.*
The boys caught on fairly quickly, so it wasn?t long before our canoes were gliding across the water.* We actually did this for a couple of hours, as well as watching the other people on shore at the same time, while also avoiding the other people who were out in boats.* When we finally decided to call it quits, we guided the canoes to shore, and then we carried them back to the rental area.*
?That was pretty fun,? Jamie said as we were walking away.* ?I?ve never done that before.?*

After taking another dip in the swimming area to rinse off the sweat and cool down a bit, we finally decided to head back to the changing area.* While we were drying off and taking off our swimsuits, Michael spoke to me.*
?I?m glad the boys suggested we wear normal clothes when we came here, because it?s dinner time now and I suggest we find someplace to stop and eat.* It?s my treat again.?*
?But you paid last night,? I objected.*
?And you paid for lunch,? he countered.*

Michael was correct, though, and this friendly game did turn into a rumble.* The boys teamed up and did everything they could to beat Michael and me and they succeeded.* We played three games and the boys won each one, although I don?t think it mattered which one won, just as long as they beat us.*
?I don?t understand,? Michael stated after the last game ended, ?Up until now you?ve been treating me so well, and now you just dumped on me while we were playing cards.?*
?They?re just treating you like family,? I replied.* ?You should have noticed that they did the same thing to me.?*

We picked up and I put the cards away after that, and then we all headed upstairs together.*

We all went to our rooms to turn in, and once again I got in bed alone.* Before I fell asleep, I thought about a whole range of things.* First of all, since Michael was so appreciative of the boys? nakedness, I wondered if he might have been willing to do other things with them if given the chance.* I had never considered that he might be a boy lover before this, but then again I?d never considered myself in those terms prior to meeting Dakota.* It also made me consider what might happen if Glen slipped into Michael?s bedroom later and crawled into bed with him.* I guess we?ll never know, but it still makes me wonder.
